What is a parent initiative
As a parent initiative, Chocolate Butterflies not only welcomes, but also relies on parental involvement. Depending on individual interests, each child’s parents are responsible for a certain task on the association’s board of management or on one of our committees. We expect parents to help at least 4 hours/month and child.
The board of management consists of six members, who are elected from and by the parents at our Annual General Meeting in March for a period of one year. In addition, there are committees for repairs and cleaning, enrollment and organizing/publicity. Parents‘ meetings are held four times per year. There aren’t any daily cleaning or cooking duties for parents.
Parents and teachers can join forces to organize parties – there’s always a reason to celebrate. The parents‘ involvement is a significant factor for our friendly and family-like atmosphere and makes possible an especially constructive co-operation between the parents and the teaching team for the sake of our children.
Chocolate Butterflies receives both moral and financial support from the Social Affairs Department of the City of Munich. In Munich, a permit is required for running a kindergarten/after-school Hort. Our registered association, the Chocolate Butterflies e.V., has received this permit in 1995 for the kindergarten from the City of Munich and the Government of Upper Bavaria.
